SFL LATEST NEWS

After yet another year of expanding their popular Home Food Garden Programme SFL plan in 2012 to train hundreds more home gardeners. Each new participant commits to a 12 week training programme followed by 9 months of further coaching and support. This training is conducted by SFL’s 5 Field Trainers. During this period participants attend a wide range of workshops.

We have had two first hand reports on the work of SFL. Jackie Meldrum visited in November 2011, and her volunteering resulted in hard work helping to make vast amounts of compost [see Newsletter 23]. In March Rose Long and her son Andrew spent time at SFL in the beautiful Constantia garden and visiting many home gardens. They were impressed with the great progress made since Rose’s last visit. " I last visited Soil for Life in 2007 and was very impressed with the progress made in the last few years with the training, mentorship and support in place for the Home Food Gardening Programme; the training garden itself and also the enthusiasm of the gardeners themselves."
