MMAEP - LATEST NEWS

Heartening progress has been made in several of the schools, some of which seemed unlikely material for long term development earlier. But there are of course some not looking as promising. ‘Im feeling quite discouraged about the garden and don’t think it is likely to change until the principal decides to make the garden a priority and dedicate someone to take responsibility’.

But here is some of the positive feedback from facilitators.

‘We have witnessed an amazing turn around in the attitudes and enthusiasm of teachers and learners like at this school. It is wonderful to observe the buzz and positive energy largely centred on the garden.’ [Eidin Griffin on Sifisesihle Primary School]

‘We couldn’t ask for a more welcoming enthusiastic school. The principal simply smothers [us] with enthusiasm every time we arrive. The school tackles the gardening activities with energy and in our absence diligently prepares for our next visit. [Eidin Griffin on Nottingham Road Primary]

‘Although progress in the garden has been very slow of late, we are optimistic that things will get much better in the not too distant future. The pupils are always eager and very helpful…. They have now adopted many of their new gardening techniques and knowledge in their own homes’ [Eidin Griffin on Triandra Primary School]
